Young and lively, Tours is home to over 30,000 students, 10% of whom are international, spread across several campuses around the city. As the largest university in the Centre-Val de Loire region, the University of Tours offers a wide range of degree programs and conducts intensive scientific research work.
Multidisciplinary training
Among the 30,000 students welcomed every year by the University of Tours, 3,000 are international from 120 different countries. As a partner of more than 200 universities around the world, the University delivers degree programs in over 50 subjects: arts, humanities and languages; law, economy and social sciences; science and technology; medicine, etc. The city is also home to an engineering school (Polytech), two university institutes of technology (IUT), a school of fine arts (TALM-Tours), several business and management schools (ESCEM, ESG), a school of graphic arts (Brassart)...
Dynamic and high-quality research
The University of Tours has 36 research units, of which 15 are associated with large French research bodies: Inserm, CNRS or Inra. Supported by nearly 900 teacher-researchers, doctoral students are grouped in four doctoral schools: « Energy, Materials, Earth and Space Sciences », « Mathematics, Computing, Theoretical Physics and Systems Engineering », « Health, Biological, Chemical and Life Sciences » and « Human and Social Sciences ». Almost 140 theses are supervised every year.
Safe and affordable student living
Living and studying in Tours does not require a big budget. Accommodation costs, for example, are half those in Paris. Public transport is also accessible at a reasonable cost. From the Institut de Touraine you can easily get around on foot, by bike, bus or tram in order to play sport, walk around the historical quarter, go shopping, see a show, enjoy the banks of the Loire…
