At the Institut de Touraine, learning French extends far beyond the classroom. For our students from Georgetown, a field trip focused on street art in the streets of Tours was organized to allow them to discover the French language while exploring the city’s rich artistic heritage.
Discover Tours Through Street Art
Accompanied by their group, the students explored the streets of Tours in search of street art. This tour gave them the opportunity to discover local artists, view original works, and learn more about the history and messages conveyed by this form of urban art.
Throughout the walk, the murals and artworks served as a basis for discussion, asking questions, and expanding their vocabulary in a real-world context.
Cultural Immersion to Support Learning
The field trip was also an opportunity to decipher the poetic messages and symbols found in the works. Understanding cultural references, discussing their interpretations, and sharing impressions in French helps students develop their speaking skills in a natural way.
This immersive approach promotes authentic language use while introducing students to a contemporary aspect of French culture.
Cultural activities: A Real Asset of Language Study Abroad Programs
At the Institut de Touraine, activities and field trips are an integral part of the language programs. They complement the French classes by providing students with real-life communication opportunities and a variety of cultural experiences.
City tours, heritage exploration, workshops, or themed excursions: each outing is designed to help you learn French in a different way, in a friendly and international atmosphere. It’s a way to improve your French while creating unforgettable memories in the heart of France.
